Dancing generally refers to partner dancing to a variety of dance genres
and is enjoyed around the world both socially and competitively. Ballroom
dance parties often play between 10 to 20 dance genres in a single dance
party.
Social ballroom dancing usually consists of a wide
mixture of dance genres and styles. A dance style of Smooth or Standard
would include dances such as waltz, foxtrot or tango. Swing style includes
dances such as east coast or west coast swing and jive. Latin styles include
cha cha, rumba or samba. Club dances as night club two step, salsa and
merengue are also often included. Some parties concentrate on a specific
style such as as west coast swing, salsa or argentine tango.
